Meet our team

Dr Sam - Veterinarian

My Vet Twin Towns - Veterinarian - Dr Sam

Sam joined the MyVet Twin Towns team in January 2016.  After graduating from Bristol University in the UK, Sam started her veterinarian career working with farm and small animals in Cootamundra.  Looking for her next adventure Sam moved to Australia, working in South Australia and the Northern Territory before settling in Byron Bay.

Sam loves living in such a beautiful part of the world, having the beach on her doorstep.  She has recently expanded her skills by completing an ultrasound course and a course focusing on the treatment of rabbits, and is looking forward to being able to utilise these skills in the clinic.

Dr Aaron Castellano - Veterinarian

He fulfilled his life dream of becoming a veterinarian when he graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2016. Aaron has spent most of his placement in his final years of study in small animal and mixed practice around Northern NSW and the southern Gold Coast. In his final year he spent a month overseas at an emergency hospital in Austin Texas USA.

Aaron has a special interest in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. He has a passion for exotic pets, especially birds and reptiles, and has kept and bred many species of snake, lizard and turtle over the years. MyVet Billinudgel - Veterinarian - Dr Meagan Wheeless

Meagan holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling both from the University of Texas, Austin.

Meagan previously worked for 6 years as a rehabilitative counselor and psychotherapist for military veterans who were transitioning back into the civilian workforce. After years of incorporating equine therapy programs and service dogs into her work, Meagan decided to pursue veterinary medicine. She saw the tremendous impact that animals make in people’s lives and wanted to make a difference for animals in return.

Meagan is an 8th generation Texan, originally from Austin. In April 2017 her family and her all moved to Australia to embark on a new adventure together. People may think they are crazy for bringing the whole crew but she couldn’t imagine making a home here without each of them, including fellow native Texan husband- Chance; Golden Retriever- Cali; black Lab- Canan; Terrier-Doxie mix- Lola; Chihuahua- Lily; and Ginger Manx cat- Mason. They say everything is bigger in Texas and that certainly includes their personalities! Eventually Meagan would love to expand their family with horses, goats and alpacas.

Meagan has a strong passion for travel and international animal welfare. She has done externships and volunteer work all over the world including the Galapagos Islands, Nicaragua, Peru, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. She hopes to continue this work domestic and abroad through outreach/ community education programs and spay-neuter clinics.

Meagan loves to spend her spare time outdoors with her husband and dogs, particularly hiking, paddling, and swimming in the lakes, rivers, and the ocean. She also loves photography and creating works of art out of refurbished material.

Janine - Practice Manager

My Vet Twin Towns - Practice Manager Janine

Janine has been the Practice Manager here at MyVet Twin Towns since 2014.  She has been a Veterinary Nurse for 14 years and has worked in both emergency and general practice.  She is originally from Auckland, New Zealand, and moved to Australia with her furbaby (and very spoilt only child) Rocky almost 4 years ago and loves the warmer weather.

Janine has always loved animals and is also passionate about the environment (she completed a Bachelor Degree and A Post-Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science before coming back to her first love, Veterinary Nursing).  Janine has a special interest in orthopaedic and critical care nursing.  She is also passionate about providing "best-practice" care for the patients at MyVet Tweed Heads, and loves learning.

If you haven't met Janine already, she would love to meet you and your furry family members.  If you have already met her, come and say hello anyway!

Gemma - Veterinary Nurse

My Vet Twin Towns - Veterinary Nurse Gemma

Gemma joined the MyVet Twin Towns team in August 2017. She has always loved animals whether they have fur, feathers or scales. She was very privileged to own animals her whole childhood, which gave her the ambition to pursue veterinary nursing seven years ago and have worked full-time in general practice ever since.

At home, Gemma  has what she calls "The Zoo" which consists of 4 dogs (Cookie, Karlee, Sasha and Harvey), George the cat, Puff the central bearded dragon and 3 birds (Wendell, Bernie and Charlee).  Fortunately for these guys she inherited them all and they all have their own story as to how Gemma and their paths crossed.

Gemma loves every aspect of veterinary nursing, but what she enjoys most is when she has a fearful or aggressive patient and she earns their trust and make their vet visit or treatment more pleasant. She has a special interest in birds, behavioural issues, nutrition and dental hygiene.
